The Hicksville Gregory Museum in New York is a place worthy of visiting because of its interesting history and the many exhibits that it has to offer. The museum was founded in 1970 by Dr. Richard Gregory, a professor of history at Hofstra University. Dr. Gregory was also a collector of American Indian artifacts, which he donated to the museum. The museum is named after the late Dr. John Hicks, a pioneer in archaeology. He was also the first director of the museum. The museum is located on the grounds of the former W.G. Hardesty estate. The estate was donated to the museum by Mrs. Hicks in memory of her husband. The museum has two floors of exhibits. The first floor has exhibits on the history of the county, the second floor has exhibits on the history of the town of Hicksville, and the third floor has exhibits on the history of the W.G. Hardesty estate. The museum also has a library, which is open to the public. The library has a collection of books on the history of Nassau County, the town of Hicksville, and the W.G. Hardesty estate. The Hicksville Gregory Museum is open to the public from Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Admission is free for children under 12 and seniors over 65.
